I’ve been reading a lot of poetry lately. At some point I will talk more about what I’ve read and my thoughts on same. But for now, I want to resurrect a poem I wrote years ago that in my humble opinion has stood the test of time:

in america
as you sleep
dogs scratch and
kittens snivel.
the yard lantern winks
at the moon –
in faraway japan
miyakesan yawns.
shadows fall long
on the beds of
the children,
while nearby
a bell clangs
ending another day.

PS – I am a poor poet but I truly admire the craft.
